1975 "Athlete of the Year in Sports"- a Defensive End for University of Alabama.

I carved the Athlete of the Year, both male and several times female, for presentation at Florida’s “Athlete of the Year" Banquet Presentation. I would be notified a week in advance, drop everything else and carve a trophy of their selected athlete, rush out to the Airport and rent a seat on a commercial aircraft and ship it to Saint Petersburg , Florida. (That would be impossible now with the airports under lock and key in this Terrorist war )

This is an all American Football player from the University of Alabama. He was to win it again for a second time in his senior year, in a game I happened to witness on TV.

I carved these various trophies for about fifteen years, but finally gave it up as it was too much pressure on timing to carve and get it there for presentation.

It stood about 20 Inches tall of basswood.
