| Carving of the Christ, walking on Water and summoning four specific Apostles to him. It was to have grapes and vines around the borders and four symbolisms of Apostles of their specific choice. I asked, of course, where was it going? It was to be the facing of a Communion Table in a Methodist Church. The young man was a US Naval Officer, attached to intelligence and in a very tight security clearance position in the Navy. He was engaged to a young woman who had been orphaned at an early age and raised by the Aunts in their family; the two ladies with the young man. They were making plans for the Marriage when the young woman was found to have incurable and inoperable Cancer. He insisted they marry in spite of her approaching death. The Navy granted him emergency leave status and they were wed. Shortly thereafter, she passed on. The Aunts and the young man decided they wanted this specific subject as a memorial to her, to be seen each Church Service. He had to return to his “Hush-Hush” Naval job, but he left a lasting tribute to his love, and a deep spiritual feeling within me. 2 Inch Bass Wood about 60 inches long and 28 inches tall. |
